George's Postcard Note: Ellison said we'd be glad we went to Varanasi. As usual, she was right! Getting out on the Ganges, ever-patient boatman, floating candles, rippling lights as the sun goes down. Starts to get a little chilly. Peter tries to take pictures from the rocking boat. We head downstream until we get to Manikarnika Ghat, funeral pyres burning, smoke wonderfully swirling into the evening sky. A kind of peacefulness, a regularity. Life happens, death happens.
