George's Postcard Note: Barga was once the market town for our little Sommocolonia, and the other villages in walking distance. How would it feel to go there on foot from our house? Down the cobbled Roman road we went. The road used by everybody until the car road replaced it. Going down wasn't bad --- no twisted ankles at least. We had quite a hike though, after we got to Barga! Up, up to its fortress church, with the rest of the town flowing down below it. Here you can see its bells. We hear them from our house way up the mountain.
