George's Postcard Note: Steps lead down from the kitchen to the small formal garden, with roses, fountain, and table under grape arbor. Over the wall we watch old men tending their small vegetable gardens that cling to the hillside. And, if our sketchy Italian had permitted, we could listen in on our bickering neighbors! Mid-morning sun has by this time chased us off the little terrace where we ate breakfast, but you can imagine the sunny ease of our leisurely coffees there.
