George's Postcard Note: A bright hot late morning in Aug on the river – all of nature is at its peak. All the colors of the high season including that Midwestern archetypical "BLUE-SKY-WITH-CLOUDS" backdrop inspired me to try to be SUMMER DAY with this scene. Every tree is full of its greens, some bluer, some yellower. The river plants are in full growth across the water. The muddy rock shore is happily cooled by the river. And the RIVER, well it continually rushes by carving new shapes in its route, providing a nice background sound and keeping one watercolor artist wet and cool. The Audubon stamp was a perfect way to acknowledge our crane which stayed hidden while I worked, but I’m sure was quietly working the river somewhere near.
