George's Postcard Note: We stayed north of Santa Fe. The area is known for its buttes and dry streambeds or arroyos. In the eroded side of one of the buttes a sculptor had carved a "sacred place." He literally scooped out the soft sandy rock to make his cave, with windows and benches and special altars --- a tiny catacomb (minus bones). I decided to draw the cliff and indicate the sacred place by showing one of the windows hidden in the folds of the cliff.
