George's Postcard Note: A beautiful spring morning drive out to the village of Abiquiu brought me to this stunning stucco church in the center of the dusty dirt road intersection of the town center. The bulk of the old church - its heavy broad structural system - says it's "sitting firmly on the ground." Its ornate wooden entry and balcony and its curved front facade gives it a deserved reputation as one of the finest examples of American Spanish Colonial architecture. The direct rays of the hot sun cast deep shadows that set off the massive walls and small openings.
