George’s Postcard Note: Since the library was still under construction and I wanted to begin my paintings, I decided to cross the river and look back at the end of the building. I liked this shape and “X bracing” the architect used to reflect the forms of the historic railroad bridge and solve the building’s structural needs. Sitting there by the river can’t help but remind one of the explorers who navigated it. I know Lewis and Clark didn’t use the Arkansas to get to the West, but this stamp conveys the the historic mood of the place.
