George’s Postcard Note: On another nostalgia-laden trip, this one to Sausalito, we decided to spend some time in the little Town Park while waiting for the return ferry to the city. In all my trips to Sausalito I would never have done this highly touristy thing, but it seem right today. Afterall, we were tourists! Well it was fun to sit on the edge of a grassy area, where the light fell across the eucalyptus and cypresses and on to the Italianate fountain. And of course, the little town’s buildings peaked out on the periphery. We used our windbreakers for sitting on the wet grass and had fun watching others watching us. To get the water falling across carved stone with the sunlight falling on it was my big watercolor challenge. These are the times I think of great painters like Homer – and especially now of all his interpretations of water!
