While I liked the exterior forms and color patterns, it was the interior that inspired me to draw. The entry space is spectacular. Black and white stone columns defining its space support a central atrium; the museum’s main stairs lead you inward and upward around the columns into the gallery spaces. This is somewhere between a Broadway musical set design and Italian Opera. I thought too of the horizontally striped gothic cathedral in Orvieto! After all, Botta IS Italian.
